My Background

My name is Dean Breuer, and I am fortunate to be working for the Minnesota Department of Education as the new Business and Marketing Education Specialist in the Office of Career and College Success.

Prior to joining MDE this summer, I worked in education for 27 years. I began my teaching career in Carrington, ND (Viking fans note—my very first student was former MN Viking Jim Kleinsasser!) for three years, and then continued with the Richfield Public Schools system for the last 24 years in a variety of roles: classroom teacher, track and football coach, district technology coordinator, DECA advisor, and Carl Perkins Grant coordinator. I have led professional development opportunities ranging from curriculum development and instructional strategies to technology integration and use of data.

I look forward to regular communications with MBITE to learn from the members of our organization and to keep you informed about new information from MDE. I will try to be available whenever you, your school CTE leaders, and/or your Perkins consortia leaders have questions…I am a phone call or a car ride away! I hope you have enjoyed a relaxing summer and are looking forward to the start of another great school year!
