Emerging & Veteran Teacher WorkshopThe 2015 Veteran Refresher and Emerging Teacher Workshops were held on June 17th, at the Minnesota Department of Education.  The workshops started with a Showcase Session highlighting great things happening in our classrooms.  Showcase speakers were:

  • Danae Klimek, Irondale HS:  She shared their success with articulation agreements
  • Brenda Diekman and Rebecca Karna, Buffalo HS:  They shared their partnerships for CIS in Marketing and College & Career Prep with St. Cloud State University
  • Erik Sill, Minnetonka HS:  He gave the group an overview of the Minnetonka Vantage Program, a program where students spend half their day off site, learning in a work-like environment
  • Jennifer Reinhardt, Prior Lake HS:  She shared their story of successfully implementing the NBEA sponsored National Business Honor Society

The afternoon included three sessions in the areas of Perkins Funding, Hybrid/Blended Learning and Using Video in the Classroom with EdPuzzle.  Resources and info on CTE Levy updates were also shared throughout the day. The workshop concluded with an Un-Session where attendees prepared questions for discussion.  The day was filled with great conversations, shared ideas, and networking.

MBEI/MBITE 2015 Conference Update

“make !t matter” October 8-9, 2015

The MBEI/MBITE fall conference begins on Friday, October 9 with keynote speaker, Claudia Mescher. Claudia is a former teacher and principal that will have the audience actively engaged on how to help our students become whole brain learners.

Plan on attending an exciting conference with breakout sessions that will provide many ideas and activities to bring back to the classroom.  Planned topic sessions include social media in the classroom, app smashing, multitasking with technology, learn about Reality Check, an interactive student budget simulation, utilizing Google Classroom, App Inventor Mobile Apps, creating infographics, implementing an AP Computer Science Principles course in your curriculum, and much more.
